Do you want to live longer? Keeping a regular sleep-wake pattern may help! In a big data set of >60,000 people, this new study found that people with higher sleep regularity (i.e. they went to bed and got up at similar times every day) had a significantly lower mortality risk

Just published: Consensus of 248 leading circadian scientists calls for the widespread introduction of circadian lighting and warning labels on blue-enriched LED lights indicating they “maybe harmful if used at night”. See Frontiers in Photonics. frontiersin.org/articles/10.33…

“Avoiding light at night and seeking light during the day may be a simple and effective, non-pharmacological means of broadly improving mental health.” Nature Mental Health nature.com/articles/s4422…

People are starting to see the extremely potent & positive effects of viewing morning & daytime sunlight. I predict that soon we will internalize the benefits of night time darkness on mental health. As a recent study Nature Mental Health points out, these are independent & additive.

Analysing 13M hours of light data and 670K person-years follow-up, this study shows higher #Type2Diabetes risk in people exposed to brighter night light and disruptive light patterns affecting circadian rhythms. Andrew J K Phillips Sean W Cain Angus Burns tinyurl.com/4sa7xpr5

Circadian timing🕒 is important for health, but circadian amplitude🏔️may be even more important. We found stronger core body temperature amplitude ➡️ more robust peripheral metabolite rhythms in humans. A robust clock organises the body's rhythms. nature.com/articles/s4159…

New pre-print out! Using epi and genetic methods we found that sleep inertia drives the association between evening chronotype and psychiatric disorders, possibly by acting as a biomarker of circadian misaligned wake. medrxiv.org/content/10.110…
