Step into the spirit of the 4th of July at the 152nd Annual 4th of July Celebration organized by the Modesto Kiwanis Club. The parade starts at 9:30 a.m., don't miss out on the stars, stripes, and community excitement!

This morning, Modesto Fire Department, Police Department and CHAT joined numerous agencies to take part in a resource fair near the Berberian Shelter. Attendees could learn more about the wide range of community programs like DST that can provide assistance to spark change.

Bust a move, DST! There was poetry, singing, breakdancing and more at the 3rd annual DST’s Got Talent event. These Downtown Streets Team members showed off their skills and got plenty of rave reviews from the judges.

Fireworks are fun - until they aren’t. Children under the age of 15 make up nearly 30% of all firework-related injuries. Keep your children safe, not part of the statistic. Do not let children under the age of 18 use fireworks without adult supervision.

Exactly 48 hours to go until the 4th of July parade rolls through downtown! Celebrate America’s Youth (and America’s birthday!) in this great patriotic event. There will be plenty of community spirit, so grab your spot early, because you don’t want to miss this parade!

The City of Modesto has been awarded nearly $18 million from the State of California to transform the El Capitan Motel into 48 units of permanent supportive housing— 24 rooms for veterans and 24 rooms for individuals with mental health or substance use challenges.

Pets love cuddles, not chaos! Celebrate this 4th of July with your pets by keeping them inside and away from firework displays. Fireworks may cause distress to cats, dogs, and people. Protect your family and pets’ health while keeping safety in mind.

Independence Day reminder: waste collection will not take place on July 4th – for those that normally have Friday pickup, service will take place on Saturday. No other days of service will be impacted.
