Homogeneity is one of Cheltenham town centre’s problems. High Street is long and unsegmented and we have very few courts or alleys that promote small, quirky independents. It’s dominated by national brands with very few indies. Any case studies on addressing such challenges?

Cheltenham Civic Society createstreets @HighStreetsTF Sam Bowman Civic Voice Graham Soult FIPM Great point on Cheltenham’s High St. While Knaresborough is different, we’d probably look at pop-up markets, public art, or seasonal activities to boost footfall & attract independents. Leeds & York have had success adding flexible spaces & pop-ups to support diverse local shops.

Cheltenham Civic Society TSOE createstreets @HighStreetsTF Sam Bowman Civic Voice The point about smaller and/or local landlords is certainly something I've seen and flagged before. My experience from working in Durham, Chester-le-Street and elsewhere is that landlords who have a connection to - and are invested in - a place are more likely to be engaged.

I am delighted with the news that my good friend Ian Harvey is to take the helm at IPM to lead us on to the nest stage in supporting towns and cities. Civic Voice, your loss is our gain - but we are working partners so good news for everyone

We thought it would be useful to set out our approach to planning. We’re often incorrectly and unfairly accused of NIMBYism and wanting everything preserved in aspic or only wanting traditional (Regency) architecture. We hope this helps. cheltcivicsoc.org/wp-content/upl…

A looming office block overshadowing Liverpool St Station would have a profound & harmful impact on the surrounding Bishopsgate Conservation Area. Cumulatively the harm to the historic environment from Network Rail's & Acme's proposed designs would be substantial. A small tour:
