Ofgem has decided that an average QUADRUPLE profits for energy companies, with 10x for British Gas. Wasn’t enough and so they have raised the amount they can profit. The old adage ‘The more you let a thief steal, the more they will take.’ Is applicable here.

On July 23 Johnathan Brearley CEO of Ofgem said “We will clamp down on Energy Companies making excess profits.” One month later he raised the cap so they could make more profit. He gets paid £300,000 and he sits around working out how much he can rip you off.

It’s remarkable that Sunak and govt ministers have the opportunity to affect millions of lives - to help people achieve more, to help ease the suffering of millions, to raise children out of poverty - and instead they use this opportunity to make a few rich folk even richer.

The reason you can’t get an appointment or procedure or an ambulance at the right time is because the NHS is underfunded. That’s it. Everything else is just distraction.

Standing Charges have more than doubled in the last year. That’s an extra £7bn a year they are collecting, for a network that costs £0.35bn a year to maintain. Why do they do this? Because it is all profit and standing charges will NEVER go down, whatever happens.

Imagine being Chancellor of the UK and knowing you have to declare all personal relationships, then giving your father-in-law £50m and forgetting. All while holding a US Green Card and using your non-Dom wife as a tax haven to save £20m. That’s our PM Rishi Sunak.

Call me crazy, but with the highest tax burden in 50yrs it’s not unreasonable for citizens to expect timely access to healthcare, decent education, clean waterways, affordable transport, a safety net that stops kids going hungry, and a decent pension. These are not big asks!
