had the most incredible experience giving a talk on postpartum care + pediatric milestones at a local organization created to support pregnant mothers, often teens and young women, in need who have been shunned from family and are seeking support, my heart is so full 🥹🥹

and that’s a wrap! we had an awesome time tonight during our webinar - lot’s of insightful questions and study strategies i know preparing for boards feels intimidating but the REAL step one is believing in yourself, everything else will follow 🫶🏻

I think that the transition to pass/fail had a huge impact on this as many institutions viewed this as an opportunity to be even less board focused with their first and second year curriculum. Schools need to step up to support their students

For any student not sure if you should postpone the USMLE or COMLEX, DM me for some 100% free advice. I can also send you a free PowerPoint on study skills and ways to target your weaknesses leading in to the exam

Couldn’t agree more. Work together, push each other, share tips for success, etc. Learning to collaborate will make you a better doctor down the road too

Keep in mind that no USMLE resource is perfect or will help all students. Figure out your own learning style and look for quality resources that fit in that box.

99% of students could improve their medical school performance by focusing on RULING OUT the WRONG answers instead of immediately trying to select the correct one. This strategy is easy to use and prevents the little mistakes and mental errors that kill your scores

This is one of my favorite feelings tutoring medical students and residents. I absolutely love when I can help someone to the point where they still benefit even without working with me ❤️

I think that these guys are awesome tutors who I’d send friends/family to but I don’t know how I feel about this one. On the surface I think it’s good advice for some students but can also lead SOME students down very inefficient rabbit holes that get them behind the ball on

Not to mention these problems that I’ve seen when consulting with mostly allopathic programs: (1) Not understanding how to interpret COMLEX scores (or making an effort to learn) (2) Not even factoring COMLEX scores in to their initial assessment process

I agree with general principle of what @jason_ryanmd is saying but I don’t think it’s an either or thing There are certainly exam factors where a bit of minutiae is tested. Go through any NBME form and you’ll find a minimum of 10 questions that aren’t even covered in First Aid,

Supporting TrueLearn at IAMSE this weekend and leading a course on USMLE question development. Pop by the booth and say hi if you’re a medical student and want to talk about your exams or a faculty member that wants to talk about medical education
