On the sidelines of #UNFSS2025, USG Claver Gatete met ASG Sanda Ojiambo of the UN UN Global Compact to explore stronger private sector engagement in Africa’s food systems, value chains & investment, discussing joint efforts on data, partnerships & the next Africa Business Forum.

During #UNFSS2025, USG @ClaverGatete & UN Development's Regional Director for Africa, ASG Ahunna Eziakonwa explored ways to scale governance in agriculture, foster South-South cooperation & systematize best practices, setting the stage for an RCP-led Africa-focused food systems exchange.

Water is life & central to Africa’s development. USG Claver Gatete met with Alvaro Lario Alvaro Lario to discuss coordinated efforts on sustainable water use, irrigation & food security. They emphasized the need for country-led solutions & deeper UN system coherence. #UNFSS2025

“It’s time to rewrite the rules.” At the close of a #UNFSS2025+4 Ministerial roundtable, ES Claver Gatete called for bold action to realign global finance, invest in value chains & forge country-led partnerships for food systems transformation.

ES Claver Gatete met UN-Habitat Executive Director Anacláudia Rossbach to explore stronger collab on sustainable urbanization in Africa, including housing, land policy, local finance & data for planning. They also discussed ways to amplify the region’s voice in global urban dev.

Today at the ECA Food Systems Summit, I met Exec Secretary @ClaverGatete to discuss Africa’s urban future - spotlighting #housing, SDG localization, stronger local revenues via Local2030 Coalition & the importance of uniting forces in generating stronger data platforms.
