Join us in welcoming hafsahtauseef 🍉✊🏽 to the lab! Hafsah comes to us from UNC Women's Mood where she worked with Susan Girdler on the biology of #pmdd and #perimenopausal depression. As an incoming graduate student, Hafsah is interested in #PME of mental health disorders! 🧠🤗

At IAPMD, we recognize that there are additional barriers faced by #transgender people who have #PMDD. If you're a trans person living with a #PMD (or you want to be a better ally) visit the link in our bio for info and resources. #TDOV #TDOV2021 #TransgenderDayOfVisibility2021

This #pmdawarenessmonth2022 I want to highlight the new research (from my own CLEAR Lab, IAPMD, and others!) showing staggeringly high lifetime rates of suicidal thoughts and attempts in those with PMDs.

I get emails quite often these days asking questions about the best ways to measure psychological states in EMA research. I don't think I'm an authority on this, but worked very hard on this over the last few years so I thought I'll share my own thoughts on this. 🧵

I’m incredibly proud of our new clinical practice paper emphasizing the dire need for greater access to GnRHa for #pmdd and providing practical materials to improve psychiatrist’s competence and confidence in the ability to provide this (often life-saving) therapy.

My clinical psychology internship/residency pays me $36,000/year at a full-time position in Seattle, where the cost of living is wild. This equals $17/hour 🙃. Post-docs make $55k/yr With these salaries after 6+ yrs of training, no wonder there's a MH provider shortage.
