The most important message for climate policy-makers, companies, consumers, and voters. Delaying action makes everything much harder and more expensive.

Again and again and again... Yet another cut-off low causing devastating floods this year. This time along the Spanish coast. More than 200-350mm of rain today and it is not over yet. Well-known weather systems are today occurring in a warmer and moister atmosphere.

The scale of the flooding currently unfolding in Valencia, Spain is unfathomable. This is footage from Chiva, where a jaw-dropping 343 mm of rain was recorded in just 4 hours earlier today, between 4:30 PM and 8:30 PM. Video credit: Nalabcer

Climate change is one of the defining challenges of the 21st century. While individual actions can reduce impacts, gov't policy will play a big role to make clean energy cheap and widespread. The most important climate action you can take today is to vote.

You can see in this video why flash floods are likened to inland tsunamis. Even with a warning it is difficult to get out of the way in time. The danger also comes from the amount of debris carried in the flow. Extreme rainfall can cause these walls of water. #Valencia

Record-breaking rainfall and flash floods have hit Spain, causing dozens of casualties and massive disruption and economic losses. It underlines why the top priority of the WMO community is to save lives as climate change super-charges extreme weather.    wmo.int/media/news/dev…

NEVER EVER have I ever seen anything like this before and I have covered many many disasters. With brooms, buckets, food and water in hand, the Valencian community go and help their neighbours ♥️♥️♥️

"As climate change produces this perfect storm, in every sense, the wonder is that it is not at the top of our political agendas. Climate policy shows no sign of prominence in our coming election campaign... " via The Irish Times irishtimes.com/opinion/editor…

Harris or Trump? Some claim that the future of Europe depends on the American elections, while it depends first and foremost on us. On condition Europe finally grows up and believes in its own strength. Whatever the outcome, the era of geopolitical outsourcing is over.

If devastating Spanish floods don't ignite climate action, what will? It is abundantly clear how human driven climate change has contributed to the flooding we've seen in Spain & elsewhere, writes Conor Murphy Maynooth Geography ICARUS Maynooth Maynooth University rte.ie/brainstorm/202…

1/n I find this new research from Andrew King, Tilo Ziehn+ most relevant & humbling. The idea we can wreck the planet’s climate and then fix it as if we were cleaning up the water of a polluted river or the air of a choking city, has always felt a bit pretentious.
