Emily-Grace Folorunsho Teachers Talk Radio @MrAWGordon_ Cat Chowdhary Kyle Graham LambHeartTea (she/her) Kate Jones After behaviour, surely there’s nothing more important than T&L? I don’t understand how an assistant head can be in charge of T&L. Surely head should know precisely what they want T&L to be in their school & they direct/model/train accordingly?

An excellent point on putting principles before individual practices. If you don't understand the principle, the practice is likely to fail.

In practice testing, requiring students to indicate their confidence in their chosen response compared with other responses increased learning, but asking them just to rate their confidence in their choice did not: bit.ly/3UWN15u

I feel these are three things every teacher and school leader should know: 1. We are more similar than dissimilar in how we learn. 2. This has major implications for designing curriculum, instruction and assessment. 3. Expecting teachers to differentiate their teaching for 30

Am I more pessimistic and less patient, the further I get into teaching… OR Is behaviour really getting worse? I’m not going crazy surely right?! 😫 The sense of entitlement and lack of respect from students is getting worse by the day. I’m exhausted… we all are.

It’s time to keep Katie’s love of reading going for her beautiful daughter. She is currently enjoying The Worst Witch books but can anyone suggest books of a similar vibe? And collections of short stories? (she’s reading well for her age, 6) Team English Carl Hendrick

Patrice Bain @PoojaAgarwal Strong points from Tom Sherrington on teacher workload and why overly onerous tasks like book scrutiny and marking need careful consideration. #researchEDG

During lockdown, I wrote 30k words about VAR and measurement theory. No-one wanted to publish it - they all said it was mad. But offsides like this Coventry one mean I can't stop thinking about it. 3 major issues.

Everyone I know in education is EXHAUSTED just now. If you possibly can, take a rest to enhance perspective. What will really matter 5 years from now? And what won’t?

Interesting study on the spacing effect, resting and the relative difficulty of what is being learned. Key points: ➡️ Spacing is especially helpful when learning complex, interconnected information, particularly for beginners because this type of learning is mentally demanding,

At the moment, it is possible for a teacher to do basically no susbtantive CPD on aspects of their job other than safeguarding. The "amount of professional reading or learning" that teachers should be doing is a good debate to have and I'm generally on the "more than currently"

A few people have asked for my thoughts on the education section of the Lib Dem manifesto, in particular this bullet point. It's not great - here's why.
