Ice Memory ice coring campaign on the Corbassière glacier on Grand Combin. At seven metres below the surface, the drilling team smelt that something was burning. Worried that the motor was overheating they pulled up the sample carefully and found there was plastic in the ice.

Mission accomplished on Grand Combin, 2 ice cores down to bedrock and another 55 m deep. theguardian.com/environment/20…
