FENGYUN 3D (my favourite X-band satellite) views of home from this afternoon. 3a21 flavour is my favourite false colour mode as it differentiates ice and water vapour nicely.

NOAA 18 is scheduled for decommissioning 2025-06-06 around 18:00 UTC. A ~9dB drop in S-band power output and a failure of the backup TX have brought this about. My last signals from NOAA 18 on both S & L-Band? Yes, they are weaker! β˜ΉοΈπŸ«‘πŸ›°οΈ Source: nesdis.noaa.gov/about/document…

A nice well rounded article by Ling Xin on the recent orbital antics of TIANDU-1 and DRO-B as they pushed the bounds of cis-lunar astrogating. Thanks Ling for your work here. scmp.com/news/china/sci…

If a U. S. 'bunker buster' hits a nuclear site, what might get released into the air? Very good fact-checking here by my colleague Nell Greenfieldboyce. Iranian enrichment facilities will not "blow up" in a mushroom cloud when they're struck... npr.org/2025/06/18/nx-…

This is deeply saddening. Richard was a champion of how NASA should work. Transparency in the use of space is critical to peace and stability on Earth. Every voice that is silenced makes our world more unstable. Richard Stephenson thanks for your service. 🫑
