Most significant fires require a large amount of water to extinguish rapidly. We train in techniques to handle this force so that we can move as much water as possible safely. #CobbFire #HandLines #Pressure #GPMs

Being a firefighter is one of the most challenging and rewarding jobs. We fight together and live together for 24 hours at a time. This creates strong bonds and friends you will have for the rest of your life. #CobbFire #Family #TrueFriends #StrongBonds

When someone needs rescue from a window during a fire, they need rescue NOW. In order to get that ladder in place and the person out of harm's way, we have to be able to throw a ladder accurately, quickly, and usually without help.

Firefighters also have to be great EMTs and Paramedics as we are usually the first crews on the scene. To give fluids or life-saving medications, we have to be proficient at placing an IV.

Firefighters have to be in great physical shape. The job demands it. To ensure our firefighters maintain physical fitness we have gyms at almost every station and our training center. These are the stair stations in our PAT testing facility.

Tight spaces and high buildings make it difficult for us to get fire apparatus where we need it in the event of a fire. The solution to that is a ladder truck known as a tiller.

Our public information officers are critical in getting accurate information out to the public promptly. A good PIO is a mixture of an experienced firefighter and a good communicator.

Sometimes the craziest stuff catches on fire. This is a trash truck the trash in the back caught fire. They had to dump the truck and then put the trash fire out.
