There are very strong winds expected Sunday evening into Monday - please try to avoid travel (remember that disruption might continue into Monday morning rush hour), and share the information so that others know:

We are working with partners on a multi-agency response to Storm Isha, which has resulted in a national Amber weather warning for strong wind. Our highways crews have increased resources across the area and we have teams on standby ready to respond to expected disruptions. One

We’re already seeing disruption from strong winds, with power cuts and road closures, but it’s likely to get worse through the night - so please try to avoid travel if at all possible (and remember disruption to travel and power supplies might continue through tomorrow morning).

Hopefully, Storm Jocelyn will be a little tamer than Storm Isha, but please don’t underestimate her……….we’re expecting rain for most of the day, with the winds getting stronger through to the evening……..with Yellow Weather Warnings in place.

Two top tips from us! (1) Check the weather forecast - conditions can change quickly in the fells, particularly at this time of year (2) Tell someone where you’re headed, even if it’s just a quick text…… And then get out there and enjoy your day 😊

We are aware that scaffolding has fallen into the #RiverDerwent at #Cockermouth due to #stormlilian. This should not cause any extra flood risk at present, and we're currently assessing removal options. We always urge people to sign up to flood warnings: bit.ly/4dz9fAG
