Will National Oceanography Centre deploys holographic cameras up to 600m to get multiple 2D images to then create their 3D version!

Ben Gustafson from Heriot-Watt University runs the #FlowCam to determine the community composition in the water collected from the CTDs and dilution experiments. He feels he has a TV, as all of us keep asking him what's in the water today?

I'm using #PlanktoScope to image samples collected from the #MarineSnowCatcher. Extra samples will be analysed with the #FlowCam back in National Oceanography Centre lab.

And of course, we have #microscopes. The #zooplankton team use them to separate specific species to then measure their respiration rates or egg profuction. Ben Gustafson and myself sneak in when free to pick up pteropods or take pictures of the beautiful creatures.

Happy to celebrate our last few years together at the MBA - to share an office with such an academic gem and a kind soul Laura Branscombe was a dream! Proud to see all your achievements thus far and I know there will be many more to come!!

Excited to attend my first Georgina Mace Centre for the Living Planet ecological debate at Imperial College London 🤩

Today I officially become a faculty member Imperial Life Sciences Georgina Mace Centre for the Living Planet!! Very excited for the next chapter in my career and grateful for the research time I've had. Thanks for all the poo 💩

Our paper on the impact that #plastic #microfibres have on formation, sinking & #carbon content of #MarineSnow is finally out in ASLO shorturl.at/3tv8y Work from my U.G with @colinbmunn MarineSciencePlymUni and collab. at MARUM AWI Medien, Max Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology & Bremen Uni 🌊🥳👩🎓

Mid-morning coffee above the sediment traps at National Oceanography Centre today - the docks are always a hub of activity! Spending a couple of weeks here visiting E.Elena GarciaMartin to process some samples on the FlowCam BIO-Carbon 💩💩💩💩

So happy to see this one out. Huge thanks to my coauthors, Michelle Michelsen and Ben Temperton, for all their hard work. "Metagenomic time-series reveals a western English Channel viral community dominated by members with strong seasonal signals" academic.oup.com/ismej/article/…
