Did you know that the saying 'rule of thumb' comes from mills, as an experienced miller would know the perfect consistency of flour merely from rubbing it between their thumb and forefinger, hence the rule of thumb! Heart of Lincs

This week's #ThrowbackThursday is our original 19th century hoist. Powered by our waterwheel, this pulls the grain to our top floor where it can be put into hoppers and then fed into our stones to be milled into our stoneground flour. See it in action this Sunday! Heart of Lincs
