Once again, for those in the back: multiple job-holding is a pro-cyclical indicator. That means that the share of workers with multiple jobs rises when times are good. That's because there are more job opportunities in a healthy labor market.

The median home price in America is $441,000. At 6.5% interest and assuming they scraped together $44k for a down payment, their monthly payment for mortgage + property taxes will be about $2,600. Annually, that's $31k, or 42% of their income. No bank would ever lend to them.

America's housing crisis contains two problems: Above-cost housing & low incomes YIMBYism can cut rents down to construction costs, but it can't help poverty. Or can it? Turns out an Austin-style 15% rent drop would cut Californian poverty by as much as the Child Tax Credit 👇
