Privileged to join the University of Essex at one of their many graduation ceremonies today. Great atmosphere. Cheers and a few tears at achievement. Unbelievable diversity. Proud of what they do for so many and what they bring to the city.

Thoughtful County Council Cabinet meeting today, good challenge and response. Proposals for further progress across Essex on waste management. More recycling & efficiency and less waste buried. And a glimpse into capital and revenue spend and rising social demand pressure

Summer slips away. Council wheels keep turning and life stays busy for many. But for my part (love the town hall though I do) it has been nice to have more evenings at home. In the garden (or whisper it, in the pub).

A great evening. To see John Jowers, Mike Hogg and Lyn Barton made Alderman. Honoured for their many years of service to their wards and the City of Colchester. Tributes,humour, respect and affection, from many.

Eighty years on from the battle of Arnhem. Good to see it honoured at our war memorial by the paras of today, our veterans, and those representing our Dutch and Polish comrades and the people of Renkum.
