Mixed bag on the follow-up results. The swimming advisory for the Lower Saluda has been lifted, but the advisories continue for the Broad and Congaree Rivers. River levels are still pretty high too.

The rivers are up & so were a few of the bacteria results. MIDLANDS RIVERS SWIMMING ADVISORIES 3 of the Midlands Rivers Coalition water quality samples collected yesterday did not meet the standard for swimming. Swimming advisories will continue for the Broad & Congaree Rivers.

Swimming advisories lifted, but the rivers are still a bit high. The follow-up Midlands Rivers Coalition water quality sample collected yesterday met the state standard for swimming. Therefore the swimming advisories issued for the Broad & Saluda rivers are no longer in effect.

✅ All Greens! None of yesterday’s Midlands Rivers Coalition water quality samples showed elevated bacteria levels. As always, pay attention to the weather and river conditions and use your best judgement. See the map and full results at HowsMySCRiver.org.

It was rainy & the water was high, but that didn’t stop these first year USC law students from joining us for a creek cleanup! 🤙 Together we picked up several hundred pounds of trash from Smith Branch, including 120+ plastic food wrappers, couch cushions & a space heater. 🍫🛋️♨️

🛶 All greens, and just one week left in the sampling season. None of yesterday’s Midlands Rivers Coalition water quality samples showed elevated bacteria levels. See the map and full results at HowsMySCRiver.org.

✅ All greens to end the sampling season! BUT REMEMBER, water quality conditions can change quickly and we often see elevated bacteria levels in the 24-48 hours after significant rain events. Always pay attention to the weather and use your best judgement.
