#OTD 56 years ago, Buck Martinez made his MLB debut with the Kansas City Royals. He pinch-hit for catcher Ellie Rodriguez in the bottom of the ninth inning and flied out to centre field against Oakland A's right-hander Chuck Dobson in the Royals' 16-4 loss.

#OTD 24 years ago, Stubby Clapp (Windsor, Ont.) made his MLB debut with the St. Louis Cardinals. The 36th round pick pinch-hit for Mike Timlin in the eighth inning and struck out against Cubs righty Todd Van Poppel but was still given a standing ovation by fans at Busch Stadium.
