Too much focus on Zuckeberg's pandering while missing their legal entanglements. My calendar is FULL with Facebook lawsuits/trials for securities laws to FTC antitrust to child harms. Even this Friday, SCOTUS will decide if it'll take up their inflated reach case. 1/2

The Mump presidency's an unprecedented fusion of political & technological power. As unaccountable billionaires who control vast swaths of critical internet, space, AI & comms infrastructure bend the knee & grab control, I predict billionarization will be 2025’s word of the year

"Paramount's efforts to settle Trump's lawsuit against 60 Minutes is not only a financially stupid move given already strapped news budgets, but it is also dangerous for press freedom... nytimes.com/2025/01/30/bus…

Commissioner Slaughter and I just sued to clarify that we're still FTC commissioners. But this is bigger than us. This is about economic stability. If the President can break a 90-year-old Supreme Court ruling to fire us for no reason, he can do it to the Fed, the FDIC and SEC.

Exactly. They are still commissioners. Trump and Musk seem to think that the US Government is just a player in an episode of The Apprentice and that “you’re fired” are magic words that give them special superpowers to make laws disappear and the Constitution irrelevant.

Instead of accepting a false choice between innovation and regulation, the world’s democracies should show how democratic oversight can enable technological progress while preserving fundamental rights, writes Dr. Courtney Radsch. bit.ly/4jDtNuI

🧵 It’s the 100th day of Trump 2.0, so here are 100 times Trump and those close to him have attacked press freedom and transparency. That doesn’t mean they’re only averaging one per day – we had to make cuts. There will probably be more attacks while we’re posting this.

The Broligarchy gets what it paid for. Trump fired top US copyright official Shira Perlmutter & it appears directly linked to her office's new AI report questioning unlimited harvesting of copyrighted materials, taking a stance out of line w/Silicon Valley linkedin.com/posts/radsch_t…

In an op-ed for The New York Times, I argue that the alliance between Silicon Valley & the US government is a threat to democracy. The Republican tax bill now up in the Senate, which would ban states from regulating AI for a decade, will only cement that trajectory. nytimes.com/2025/05/30/opi…
