What were you doing in the summer of 2005? The Cricketer's team wind the clock back thecricketer.com/Topics/ashes-p…

Essential reading (and viewing) on the Kookaburra ball by Nick Friend Looks OK, but according to our intrepid correspondent it feels quite soft

The new edition of The Cricketer features my obituary of Wayne Larkins Northamptonshire CCC Durham Cricket - I hope it does him justice. Also a cracking piece by David Griffin Photography on Eddie Barlow of Derbyshire CCC and Proteas Men fame.

Some great interviews in our Summer special! 🏏@Tregs140 Jack Russell MBE & his youth coaches on the making of Jamie Smith 🏏England's comms man Danny Reuben 🏏Ellyse Perry on Hampshire Cricket stint + Paul Edwards in our outground special David Griffin Photography on his hero Eddie Barlow

Sad news. Brian Adams gave me chapter and verse for Evita Burned Down our Pavilion on the incredible 1970 New Zealand Ambassadors World Tour (Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, West Indies, Portugal, Gibraltar, England, Bermuda, USA) canterburycricket.org.nz/news/rememberi…

A posed shot for The Cricketer ahead of the 2nd Ashes Test at Lord's in 1975. Three of those pictured (John Edrich, David Steele and John Snow) did not play against after the 1976 home series v West Indies, while new England skipper Tony Greig only lasted until 1977 (P Eagar)

I can only assume that Italian cricket has got wind of this! Federazione Cricket

A fitting tribute from Test Match Special to the incomparable Joe Wilson - a man of integrity & master of scripting who’s filed his final piece from the Test (on the 6 shortly), & bids farewell to the BBC today. Will be hugely missed by colleagues & the many who loved his reports 👂⬇️
