Sign up to hear Dr. Rebecca Quintana and Dr. Robb Lindgren discuss their explorations with Extended Reality tools in university classrooms. Terrific mix of Learning Sciences and imaginative technology-supported pedagogy.

“On January 24, Apple Computer will introduce Macintosh. And you'll see why 1984 won't be like ‘1984’. Still remember that ad (and that Super Bowl). Writing this on my iPhone, but still digging my Mac.

Happy to see this ISLS News spotlight on Dr. Rebecca Quintana and how she’s taken last year’s Early Career Workshop discussions to a session with ECW colleagues on the design of equitable learning experiences at ISLS 2022(2022年国際学習科学学会年会). Connects to her work with Center for Academic Innovation and U-M Marsal Family School of Education!

Terrific #AERA2022 presentation by Dr. Rebecca Quintana and Jacob Aguinaga on their work exploring how integrating an external scaffolded tool in a community/task-based MOOC can support reflection & articulation in learners' culminating projects. Always great to see our former students thriving, and U-M Marsal Family School of Education alum Jinzhi Zhou gave a wonderful #AERA222 talk on her work about scientific argumentation during the modeling process. This proud advisor can’t wait to see how her doctoral work progresses at IU School of Education Bloomington.

Doing discussant duty for this session was fun. Enjoyed seeing all of these great projects on augmented/virtual reality in different learning contexts, and seeing how these projects are helping us better understand embodied learning. Great posters and demos!

A fun morning marshaling at a chilly Big House for University of Michigan commencement! Great to see all the grads & families again. A wonderful address by Maria Shriver about facing your fears & grabbing the opportunities in our uncertain world. Good luck to all of the Class of 2022! #GoBlue

Wonderful discussions at #THEdigiweekUS about digital education. Great workshop from the task force Dr. Rebecca Quintana was invited to join to discuss what tech can/can’t do, & supporting new online pedagogies for a future that can’t just be the old normal. Interesting discussion at #THEdigiweekUS with Jessica R. Williams, Ph.D, director of Every Learner Everywhere Network, on inclusivity in digital education. Have a look at their reports, including their Equity Review Toolkit on designing equity-centered instructional materials, at everylearnereverywhere.org

Enlightening #THEdigiweekUS conversation with Harvard University president Lawrence Bacow. Interesting to hear that 88% of their faculty will change their teaching given their pandemic shifts. And intriguing thoughts about new post-edX nonprofit with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to reach learners missed by edX.

After hearing President Aoun at #THEdigiweekUS, got his book "Robot-Proof" (bit.ly/3yIlvNE) about higher education in an era where tech rapidly reshapes the job market. Northeastern U. is taking an impressive, university-wide approach to global, experiential education.

New half-marathon state unlocked: Kentucky. Dr. Rebecca Quintana and I had a blast running the UrbanBourbonHalf in Louisville. A nice course that briefly crossed the Ohio River into Indiana and solid post-race recovery music, eats, & drinks. Bourbon may have been consumed. Recommended!

We love to see baseball games in any city we may be visiting, and if available, grab a mascot plushie. This practice has apparently given us the power to accurately predict this year’s National League championship series. Apologies to LA and Atlanta. #skills

Still hanging out here to watch Twitter (d)evolve & to follow folks not moving over. But also de-mothballing my Mastodon acct to get that running. Find me there at @[email protected]. Not a Twitter clone, & some growing pains, but interesting starting from scratch again.
