I get home from observing at 5:30 AM, and my cat (whomst I found while observing!) is laying on the kitchen rug angry-staring at me in the dark like a TV parent waiting up to tell their kid off for breaking curfew.

This is absolutely ridiculous -- a company wants to launch satellites so people can buy artificial shooting stars. The last thing we need is more space junk & threats to the night sky. Thank you Dr. Lindsay ⊙ for sharing -- please sign! chng.it/5NZD6BpV via Change.org

I always wanted to be an Elizabeth Bennet, but it turns out I’m more of a Charlotte Lucas (27 years old, no money, no prospects, a burden, frightened)

From Guest: When harassers coauthor papers, the community suffers, but nobody is more affected than the Early Career Researchers within those groups. This is how we, the ECRs within the California Planet Search, have tackled the recent authorship debacle. astrobites.org/2023/06/25/exo…

paper day! 🥳 we tried astrobites lesson plans with a bunch of students to see how it affected them (hint: it was good!) students felt better about reading research literature afterwards, plus lots of other positive effects as described in our paper: arxiv.org/abs/2309.05822
