Sad that we had to cancel this event, but @WomeninSciUVic is listening to science and we have decided to postpone this event. ⬇️

Great thread! But also important to note that it is OK if you can't be research-productive because you are focusing on helping others or because you are worried about the whole situation. These are difficult times and we will need to revise our priorities, and it's ok to do so.

THIS⬇️. Supervising people (at any level) includes suporting them during difficult times and not increasing their anxiety. Discuss a safe plan (following institution recomendations), write it down, agree to it (in written), revise when necessary and let everyone live guilt free.

This is Bogey. He was pupset about the Olympics being postponed until he realized that's just more time to perfect his routine. 14/10

Anyone in need of an alternative to plastic bags? Check-out, put back into cart, wheel cart to vehicle (or alternative spot that allows social distancing) then load groceries into reusable bags. #zerowaste

I don't know who needs to hear this but international graduate students DO pay taxes and are considered residents of Canada for tax purposes. #Internationalstudents #CESB

Grateful for the support & amplification as I've shared my experience as black prof, in the midst of ongoing unjust killings and systemic racism. For those who've asked for advice on ways to support students, trainees and others, I've included suggestions in the thread below.

Here’s a radical idea: let’s redistribute some of the $B we spend on police to fund mental health (care/research). Mental health care should be part of our health care in πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦. With more attention paid to our mental health we’d have fewer people in crisis cbc.ca/news/canada/to…
