When coachable players are held accountable, they understand it's for the good of the team and seek to learn from the situation. Uncoachable players think they're being picked on and play the blame game when held accountable.

Discipline doesn't have to be a negative thing. Champions see discipline as an opportunity to get better. They see it as a necessary part to the growth process. Losers resent it because they see it as punishment. Discipline yourself and others won't have to discipline you.

"Some of the greatest athletes in the world do things when they are uncomfortable. Everybody can compete when they are feeling good, happy, excited, rested. But, it's the best people that can overcome when they are tired, sore, not in the best mindset. People don't make excuses."

PLAYERS: Before you question your playing time, honestly evaluate how you're using your practice time. Make sure that you're bringing energy, enthusiasm, and a team-first mentality to practice. Build good habits in practice. Find ways to be valuable. Make your teammates better.

Kids give up on sports when it’s no longer fun. When parents & coaches pressure kids to over-perform, they want to quit playing. You can encourage & support, but don’t constantly make a kid feel criticized or undervalued. ~ via Jon Beck

Underrated coaching truth: Correction without connection feels like criticism. But when players trust you, even hard feedback helps them grow. Build the relationship first. Then raise the standard.

Gotta get this off my chest… Travelball Coaches - you’re killing your players. Especially your pitchers and catchers! Having only 2 pitchers and 1 catcher for a season, or national tournament is wrong. Most of you are good people that make selfish decisions for $$ or ego.
