American Society of Spine Radiology (ASSR) "This case series examines the histopathologic features of perineural tissues at the spinal level of CVFs across 5 patients with SIH who underwent surgical ligation and resection of the affected nerve root. Vascular alterations were found in all specimens."

🚨Study supported by Spinal CSF Leak Foundation doi.org/10.1111/head.1…🚨 Lumbar punctures are NO LONGER the standard for diagnosing spinal CSF leak! 📊 ~32% with SIH have NORMAL opening pressure. Symptoms + imaging now drive diagnosis. WouterSchievink Connie Deline #SpinalCSFLeak #SIH

New in JNIS: a venographic classification of the epidural plexus (EP) to guide CVF embo through EP navigation. Success: >90% (Types I–II) → 50% (Type III). Type III = longer fluoroscopy + more EP perforations → prefer segmental vein access. Clinical outcomes highly favorable.

This remarkable video highlights how far neuroradiology has come since the first spinal CSFVF was imaged in 2014. Thanks to the skill and innovation of neuroradiologists, diagnosis and care for patients with CSF leaks has been transformed. Grateful to all advancing this field 🙏

I’ve been reflecting on advances in spinal CSF leak care over the past five years — and I truly believe it represents one of the most rapid and transformative evolutions in modern medicine.

• Novel treatments — from targeted patching to endovascular embolization and minimally invasive surgery — are restoring lives that were once on hold. • Growing awareness of the risks and long-term effects of post-dural puncture leaks is improving patient safety everywhere.

Some lateral CSF leaks are diminutive but others are more sizable. Childhood orthostatic headaches and recent leg weakness. Imaging shows a lateral CSF leak from the left L1 nerve root that was caused by an aberrant artery of Adamkiewicz piercing the dura. ⁦Spinal CSF Leak Foundation

"This case underscores the importance of recognizing the interplay between congenital anomalies and acquired CSF pathology. substantial gaps remain in our understanding of CSF-lymphatic interactions, particularly in the context of congenital anomalies."
