Folks making open calls for positions, how are you dealing with AI-generated cover letters? I'm able to recognize the phrases and use AI detectors. How do we evaluate the applicants if they all read eerily the same (since many probably used the ad text as a prompt)?

Cool! We're looking for some help getting set up with freshwater sponge research. We'd love to host a early-career researcher. Interested in learning about protists? Want to share wisdom of sponges? Please get in touch. Maybe Freshwater Sponge Research Emma Hammarlund Lab know someone?

Great 🧵 by Andrew J. Roger (@andrewjroger.bsky.social) summarising the PhD work of Shelby characterising another (probably) amitochondriate lineage. The paper has everything! great genomes, the best FeS cluster system, and beautiful images by Psi Wavefunction (check out the bonus preprint at the end).

I'm looking for advice on synthesizing a small molecule(<200 Da) organic molecule that is not commercially available. Any advice on companies we could use to synthesize this for us? There are published protocols, but we are not chemists and other extraction methods seem tedious.

This story started 5y ago with my lab. Spearheaded by fearless 1st authors theopi and Olivia Leland. Theopi is now a PhD student at Brown University. Olivia is a physics PhD student at Brandeis University, a self-taught biologist, and made us love soft matter. A (very long) thread (1/24)
