🧮NUMBER OF THE WEEK! 🧮 I often see a version of this in EYFS, perhaps we should do more of it in other yr groups?Perfect as a starter or a couple of q a day over the week. Children could create their own. So much more you can do, I think I will be making some more! Any ideas?

❤️Mathematical Challenges for Able Pupils❤️It's an oldie but a goodie and is free online. When I first used it in 2000, the maths cupboard had unifix cubes, 3D shapes and textbooks. That's it. I love teaching maths now, the resources make all the difference. #Numicon

⭐️ Number of the week number 2!⭐️ Change of resource for this one & a smaller number. Some of the q are the same to support retrieval but there are a few new ones to spark interest. This activity works well over a couple of days allowing plenty of opportunities for maths chat!

Exploring the relationship between the 9 &10 times table is easy with Numicon! Yr 4 built the 9 x table, then added a Numicon 1 to create the 10 x table and then removed it as they adjusted their answer. Visuals and gestures are a powerful combo! #Numicon

Occasionally, you see something and you just get a sense that there’s something not quite right. Have you got TIME to spot the mistake?

I was delivering at the Kent maths conference today. This message from Gareth Metcalfe was a massive reminder to me as a teacher how lovely it is to receive praise from someone you respect. It means a lot. Keep dishing out that praise teachers!

Dots & Boxes with a twist 📦 Today's share is the old classic Dots & Boxes. Play with chess pieces where the winner has the most points. Play classic or with numbers. Thanks to Dan Finkel for inspiring this one. His Number Dots & Boxes are fab! #Edutwitter
