My Uncle fought as a Sniper in 3d Marine Division on Iwo Jima 79 years ago. Fifty-three years later, I was privileged to serve in 3d Marine Division on Okinawa. He graduated Boot Camp in 1944 at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego. I served at MCRD San Diego 65 years later.
