.Justyna Ziółkowska and my latest book ‘Suicide and the Self’ (Routledge) is in the last stages of production. Just got an email about my complimentary copies. Always a good sign.

.Justyna Ziółkowska and my edited volume, Handbook of Language of Death and Dying is almost ready for submission for production with Routledge. Bloody hell it’s been a difficult project.

On Tuesdays i eat breakfast in a cafe. I sit down with my laptop and do some work, with students and faculty around. I do enjoy this pale semblance of bohemian life. It reminds me of Graham Scambler’s cafe society.

Wine writing isn’t hard. Good writing is. Language is enough - no need for heroics. Dariusz Galasiński responds to his critics: winemag.co.za/wine/opinion/d…

Wine writing is ordinary. Good writing is extraordinary. Language is enough - no need for heroics. My response to my polemicists in Winemag . winemag.co.za/wine/opinion/d…

The Bloomsbury Handbook of Language and Death, edited by Prof Justyna Ziolkowska (Justyna Ziółkowska) and me, has been sent off to the publishers. I can't believe I am writing this - it's been a very difficult project. I am delighted and very relieved.

Italian beach: a celebration of normality. Fat, skinny, wrinkled, unmuscular, drooping, flabby, bodies of all kinds around with no perfection in sight. We’re all equal in our imperfections. What a wonderful contrast to the body perfection peddled in so many media outlets.

Enough with the false kindness that divides drinkers into ‘knowledgeable’ and ‘ignorant.’ Wine is for pleasure, not approval writes Dariusz Galasiński winemag.co.za/wine/opinion/d…

On the snobism of ‘empowering’ wine lovers. I don’t need to be wine confident and I certainly don’t need you make me ‘empowered’. Winemag winemag.co.za/wine/opinion/d…

Anna-mari Almila and David Inglis did a fantastic job with wine and gender talk. Anna-Mari has a book on this coming out. #pinotnoirproject

Gosh, all these years I’ve been doing it wrong. I also think reading papers at conferences, apart from being narcissistic, is a way of making people fall asleep.
