My Twitter/X feed has turned into a mix of political propaganda/brainless videos, drowning out the interesting posts that originally attracted me to this platform. Like many others, I am giving it a good old try to BlueSky social. I will likely slowly discontinue my presence here

Interesting study! Missense PLA2G6 SNPs are common in blood donors and are linked to RBC hemolysis from our study here - doi.org/10.1182/blood.… Another link between RBC hemolysis and kidney disease?

The Human Cell Atlas. Important work to map the 30-37 trillion cells in the human body. Hopefully these efforts will not completely ignore red blood cells, up to 83% of the cells in this count.

Thanks for highlighting this really important effort to develop new prognostic criteria for new therapies. Have to do this for all new therapies, can’t assume that risk stratification systems developed for other therapies are relevant. More input and refinement to this is needed!

The central message behind our two recent papers in Nature Metabolism Mol Syst Biol •• If you can’t identify it with XCMS-METLIN, highly likely it is ISF (in-source fragmentation) •• Both papers are open access nature.com/articles/s4225… embopress.org/doi/full/10.10…

An unexpected paradox of aging and cancer. It has been great watching this story evolve over the past few years but glad to see it out. Congrats to everyone!

Blood is a window on systems health. Great work from Higgins and colleagues nature shows that stability or setpoints in complete blood count parameters in 10s of thousands of patients over 20 years is associated with clinical risk and all cause mortality rdcu.be/d3dnf

I’m excited to share our latest study led by Giulia Pasquesi out today in Cell Press , uncovering a new way transposons have been repurposed for human interferon signaling! Read on for a thread on cryptic splice variants, decoy receptors, and viruses (1/N) 👇🧵
