this is long.. 2018 March: Khashoggi and Elatr, who met in 2009, begin romantic relationship April 3: Khashoggi proposes and gives her an engagement ring April 21: Hanan detained at Dubai International Airport, taken to al-Awir Central Jail interrogated, phone confiscated

April 22: At 10:14 a.m., while her devices are still in custody, someone typed a website associated with the spyware Pegasus into phone, a forensic investigation Citizen Lab discovers in 2021. June 2: Couple married in Islamic ceremony in Alexandria Va.

Sept. 7: Elatr lands in New York City for rendezvous with Khashoggi Sept 21: Elatr and Khashoggi arrange to meet in Washington on Oct. 20. Sept. 30: Khashoggi, in Turkey arranging to marry Turkish academic Hatice Cengiz, texted Elatr birthday wishes

Oct. 2: Khashoggi visits Saudi consulate in Istanbul to obtain document his fiancee’s father requests certifying he is not married. He is murdered by Saudi hit team, dismembered; his body parts are removed. Nov: Pres DT, ignoring CIA, says: “Maybe he did or maybe he didn't

July: Emirates airline, aware of Elatr’s problems with UAE, does not renew her contract. She must leave UAE after living there 26 years. July: Afraid to return to Egypt bec her family have been interrogated about her, she flies to DC, goes into hiding in lawyer’s apt. 4 1.5 years

2021 July: “We checked and she was not a target,” says Shalev Hulio, then head of NSO, maker of Pegasus after findings by Amnesty International. Oct: Elatr obtains work permit. Begins waitress, hostess work while living in a basement bedroom, at age 52.

2022 July: Biden travels to Saudi Arabia, reconciles, fist-bumps with Mohammed bin Salman Sept: Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman appointed head of state

Nov: Biden administration rules bin Salman has sovereign immunity from a lawsuit over Khashoggi’s murder, citing “longstanding and well-established principles of customary international law.” 2023 Dec: Elatr granted political asylum, seeks compensation from Saudi government!!!!
