So many questions after our observations this morning!

One of my favorite projects each year. Learning about inherited traits, making observations, critique and revision, and getting to know each other inside and out!

Campus nature walk and scavenger hunt!

Special shout out to my student and his dad, and my crazy daughters for helping me get some native freshwater fish for our class! Now on to building a fish habitat in our classroom tank. Students were so excited I taught the lesson the first 10 min of our day!

Planting some Lima beans today so we can take a look inside a few and plant the rest after germination!

Seed dissection and exploration to follow up a students question: how does a seed turn into a plant?

Caterpillar frenzy! Today a student and his dad brought in a different type of caterpillar they found. Looks like we need to identify the critter and build another habitat! our painted lady butterflies are beginning to make a chrysalis too!

Awesome field trip to sandoway house in delray beach to learn about seeds and pollination!

Becoming polinators ourselves to hunt for nectar and pollen. The bee dances were the best!

Collecting and interpreting data as we head outdoors to tally the animals that live in our school backyard. Tomorrow we’ll make a pictograph! Look out for frogs in the drains!

Waiting to go home and trying to figure out how we can get our butterflies from one flower to another.

What an amazing 3 days at Deeper Learning. Getting to learn from Ron Berger, listening to the inspiring words Dr. Dena Simmons and Kofi B, connecting with incredible educators, and witnessing some truely powerful work! Awesome. Can’t wait for DL24!
