Thank you to all the speakers and all those who attended this morning's session. Many fantastic discussions on alternative science career paths to academia - and some very useful advice shared. Key take home: stay open to any and all opportunities (and make a LinkedIn account!)

Thank you all for your responses. To summarize, these are free/open source alternatives for preparation of scientific illustrations: bioicons.com, scidraw.io, bioart.niaid.nih.gov, inkscape.org

Getting frustrated with Zotero in a collaborative Google doc. The references keep unlinking when a collaborator moves a paragraph. Has anyone else found this? Anyway to avoid it happening? 🧬🖥️ #zotero #googledocs

This is odd. A cancer microbiome machine learning paper that uses data from the retracted Poore et al. Nature paper has been published just last week in mSystems. Some of the claims seem very strong. Also, it seems to have been accepted four days after submission. #microbiome
