Awful: Trump just blamed foreign students for taking the slots of American kids. But the cuts in the House GOP bill he's pushing could cost hundreds of thousands of working class kids their route to college. Those things are connected. 1/ (new piece) newrepublic.com/article/195766…

But if you went to the University of Chicago and got your PhD in English at Berkley in how the early novel in Britain mobilized scenarios of rape, colonization, cannibalism and infection in order to model a phenomenology of reading that renders the reader's autonomy as a fiction,

In the last week: The Supreme Court implied the president’s power to dismiss appointees doesn’t extend to the Federal Reserve Elon Musk leaves DOGE and dings the House bill for not doing enough on deficits And a federal trade court blocked Trump’s sweeping use of tariffs

Donald Trump did not invoke his authority under the 1962 Trade Expansion Act when imposing his Liberation Day tariffs, so whatever authority he may or may not have under that law is irrelevant to the question of whether the Liberation Day tariffs are illegal (which they are).

Trump’s war on the “deep state” has meant eroding the federal bureaucracy. The result will be a shallow state that can’t even implement his own agenda, Daniel W. Drezner writes. worldpoliticsreview.com/trump-deep-sta…

What's absurd about this is that people make major life decisions predicated on the assumption that the U.S. govt is not going to arbitrarily change the rules and yank your visa away when you've done nothing wrong. Trump's bringing chaos to the visa system, just because he can.

It’s great that Trump entrusted so much power in a mentally unstable drug addict, nothing could have possibly gone wrong. nytimes.com/2025/05/30/us/…

HHS has acknowledged they messed up the citations with the MAHA Report, using studies that don't exist to support its conclusions. They've added new citations...that make more mistakes and don't support the report's conclusions. notus.org/health-science…
