Last Friday, 4 Oct, #HRC57 held an Enhanced Interactive Dialogue on the #nuclearlegacy in the Marshall Islands with RMI National Nuclear Commission & Marshallese Educational Initiative. #OHCHR presented a report highlighting the ongoing effects of the 67 known nuclear tests performed between 1946 and 1958.



The Republic of the Marshall Islands is proud to announce its election to the UN Human Rights Council for the term 2025-2027 🇲🇭 Congratulations to all newly-elected members of the Council and our sincere thanks to all delegations for their support during the election process.



On Oct. 10, at #HRC57, UN Human Rights Council adopted resolution on RMI's #nuclearlegacy by consensus. 66 years after the last nuclear test, RMI will continue to receive UN assistance in upholding the rights of the Marshallese people, who still bear the scars of this dark chapter of our past.

On this #HumanRightsDay, Marshall Islands reaffirms its commitment to justice, equality, and climate action, advocating for these values in Geneva as a newly elected UN Human Rights Council member. Yesterday, the Permanent Mission attended the Organizational Meeting of the Council for 2025.
