At Butaro Hospital pediatric cancer patients are cared for &cured at a fraction of the cost in high-income countries (HICs). "There's this myth that treating cancer is expensive- that's because the data is almost all from HICs." -Christian Rusangwa PIH_Rwanda n.pr/2ZaRFwL

Spreading the word about ⁦Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center⁩ becoming the 71st cancer center in the United States to get NCI designation! So proud of our accomplishment. Many many people to thank. Have already started to take it to the next level…#inpursuitofyourcure

Proud of our Phase I Team showcasing positive patient experiences Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center while on a Phase I trial. Having a multidisciplinary clinic dedicated to the needs of these patients showed that they would refer other patients for a clinical trial.

Alternative payment models in oncology prompt medical home patient-centered initiatives that drive down hospitalizations, but can’t control rising drug costs. So, maybe practices should *not* be held accountable for total cost of care in APMs. #ASCOQLTY19

Another interesting example of developing AI for assisting w cancer screening. Could be hugely important in developing healthcare systems. AI-assisted pathology will also be needed to cope with the many subsequent biopsies if applied on a population level meetinglibrary.asco.org/record/179449/…

Hey, ASCO, which is it? Am I missing something or are do the answers to these questions (both from different ASCO eLearning self-eval sets) cite the same evidence to directly contradict each other?

Proud of our South Africa/USA partnership & new manuscript evaluating the quality of breast cancer care in the S. African public system. Adjuvant RT needs improvement & locally-appropriate quality metrics needed! @JGO & funded by Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation ascopubs.org/doi/full/10.12…

Very proud of this work done with collaborators in Eswatini, showing that CBE-based breast cancer early detection training is effective and emphasizing need screening programs to include reliable means for follow-up. ascopubs.org/doi/abs/10.120… ASCO Publications

Patients with breast cancer living with HIV in the US had lower relative dose intensity with neoadjuvant and adjuvant chemotherapy. These increases in chemo dose reductions, delays, or discontinuation may contribute to survival disparities. ja.ma/3NcOH6b Dan O’Neil, MD, MPH

Proud to finally publish our comparison of time to cancer treatment and adjuvant chemo relative dose intensities among breast cancer patients with &without HIV. With my fantastic collaborators, we were able to pool data from 3 academic cancer centers! jamanetwork.com/journals/jaman…

A slightly hot take: journals should allow increase word limits by 150-300 words for revised submissions. Why am I deleting material from the original submission (which was worth requesting revisions on) to make room for reviewers additional requests?
