Gemini 2.5 is really the best model. Sad that google is so bad at marketing and product to make it more widely used. Although on that note, google has always been bad at marketing and product. Which, given its success, really speaks to how much great technology it has created.

One key realization to building quality product is this: Anything you ship by default makes the product worse, not better. It’s only when the majority of users like said thing does it become a net positive. Not realizing it is why we end up w/ things like Jira and Facebook.

i miss the old days when each of google's rainbow colors represented a product, e.g. red for maps, yellow for drive, etc. now all google icons are pretty much the same, failing the one thing they should be, aka. being iconic.

I love skeuomorphism but mixing it and flat design feels inconsistent. I hope they’ll update more parts of the app over time! A key to great design is restraint. If you have 10 great ideas of different styles, putting them all together may not be one.

this is so true (and sad). duolingo probably has too good of a "growth team." it helps them metric/stock price-wise, but it means content quality is not as much of a concern for them. it's a game disguised as a learning app. i quit after 2 years but i should have sooner...

Given how much conflicting information there is online e.g. related to health & nutrition, it seems like there’s risk for a “51% attack” for AI. If you are loud enough about an opinion and can overwhelm the input data of models, you can essentially let AI treat it as truth. Then
