Thinking about The SNP's loss last month in the big Holyrood by-election, maybe the problem isn't the SNP so much as the problem is the party's candidate Katy Loudon?

Economic growth is the primary glue of any postmodern society. If 🇺🇸 had the same economy as 🇬🇧, we'd be in just as much trouble.

One thing to add to Henry Olsen's great analysis. A viable 3rd party in a simple plurality voting system like the US requires a political environment that is not highly nationalized. The US is not that polity. Thus Musk's America Party is DOA.

I've thought a lot about this, how the right fumbles its intellectuals. Here are three observations. 1. The left has gotten bad at it, too. Have you read their flagship magazines lately? It's all Trump Derangement Syndrome, race/gender wokeness, and self-help for rich women

This sounds superficially appealing but it's educated and wealthy elites who are being consumed by it more than anyone else. The schools where 30-50 percent of the kids are trans-identified are all elite private schools and competitive public schools in SuperZIPS full of

A plurality voting system with (at least) 4 major candidates will surely produce an unpopular winner. Remember, Kier Starmer became prime minister of the UK with less than 34% of the vote. nytimes.com/2025/07/14/nyr…

Plenty of Western countries saw a major fertility recovery in the 1990s and 2000s. The big difference then was room for a fertility recovery due to the end of birth postponement. Trying to start a family at 30 is very different from trying to start at 35.
