"In years to come, I believe, people will be asking how it was that government walked by on the other side when thousands of children were suffering abject deprivation, and failed to support them in their hours of need." Gordon Brown write for The Guardian theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

Glad to see the extension of the Household Support Fund and the scrapping of the £90 admin fee on Debt Relief Orders (DROs) in today’s budget, but more needs to be done to help hard-pressed #Darlington families pay for essentials and break free from debilitating debt.

Since you came into the world you've pulled hundreds of thousands of children into poverty. Like all children, we love to celebrate birthdays, but we will never support yours. The two-child limit to benefit payments should not last for another year.

After a tragic house fire at our home in 2009 that claimed my father’s life and changed the course of our lives forever, I was finally able to thank the County Durham and #Darlington Fire and Rescue Service as I represented Mrs. Sue Snowdon, His Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant tonight.

Today we visited some of the spectacular Hummersknott area gardens that opened to the public in support of St Teresa's Hospice in #Darlington. Grateful to the gardeners who welcomed us in and the wonderful volunteers who organised admittance, raffle and tombola.❤️🌻

#StocktonInternationalRiverside Festival where folk celebrated #diversity and #inclusion, in stark contrast to what’s happened in some other towns and cities in recent days. Bubamara played their special brand of “music without anxiety”-just the medicine for these troubled times.

Ah, #Kynren, you were magnificent last night. I’m pretty sure the other 6,699ish people in attendance thought so too. #BishopAuckland #NorthEastEngland

A “must read” for all in #Darlington who value the excellent, professional, community based, rapid care provided by St Teresa's Hospice. Investment in hospice care eases the pressure off the #NHS by preventing unnecessary hospital admissions and freeing up beds. Decision rethink required.

Had a fantastic night in Jesmond at Newcastle’s only interactive music quiz- Late ‘n’ Live. Proud of Maria and Sam who are Marisam, the North East-based, female-led events company that were behind this thoroughly enjoyable evening of live music, music trivia and covetable prizes.

Absolutely loved @DarlingtonOS’ production of “Made in Dagenham”! The acting, singing, dancing, orchestra-every single moment was top class. If you want an evening of the joy that only a dose of musical theatre perfection can supply, you’ll not want to miss this one. #Darlington
