While most of the USA has been seeing wintery weather this week, our #BuoyoftheDay Station 51206 in Hilo, Hawaii has been seeing 8-10 ft waves. If you're already anxious to escape the snow and ready for some surf and sun, this might be the buoy for you! PacIOOS Scripps Institution of Oceanography🌊

🤝 It's always a pleasure to welcome colleagues from NOAA and National Weather Service. Last week, friends in town for #AMS25 were able to make the trip out to NDBC to gain some firsthand insight into our mission and operations.

Buoy of the Day: Station 42020, located south of Dauphin Island, welcomed some feathered guests this morning—though the weather was anything but foul. With calm seas and temperatures around 70°, these visitors had a perfect view of today's sunrise.

We had the pleasure of hosting friends from Lynker and Amazon Web Services, two key partners, for tours of our facilities. It was great to meet many of these colleagues in person for the first time and to turn our virtual conversations into meaningful, face-to-face interactions.

Station 46006, about 600 nautical miles off the coast of California is our #BuoyoftheDay. This buoy has seen some intense weather this week. After riding out waves towering over 35 feet, 46006 is still consistently recording heights of over 15 feet! 🌊

Our brave technicians revisited East Amatuli Island this week, restoring transmission of valuable weather data from CMAN Station AMAA2. Many thanks to U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for their permission to operate safely alongside 250,000+ birds that call this island home. #POV
