It was great to reconnect with Julie Maw, Board Member, Grain Farmers of Ontario, and Paul Hoekstra last week in Ottawa. Grain Farmers of Ontario is the province’s largest commodity organization, representing Ontario’s 28,000 barley, corn, oat, soybean, and wheat farmers.

This past weekend, I had the honour of presenting a 60th wedding anniversary certificate to former MPP Jack Carroll and his wife Janette. Congratulations to Jack and Janette on 60 years of love, commitment, and partnership!

I welcomed this week’s meeting with the Potato Council of Canada. We discussed working together with our US counterparts against tariffs, ways to rebuild those relationships, and other strategies, such as harmonizing grade standards across Canada.

A big thank you to my incredible team for the hard work they do every day serving the people of Chatham-Kent—Leamington. Today, I gave special recognition to Cheri, who is marking 20 years of dedicated service and retirement. Thank you, Cheri, you are truly appreciated!

Today, on National Indigenous Peoples Day, we honour the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples across Canada. It is a day to celebrate, to listen, and to reflect on the path toward truth, reconciliation, and respect.

I had a timely meeting with Roudi Khorram, and Shahram Gholestaneh from the Iran Democratic Association to discuss awareness of human rights abuses in Iran and the rise of executions. A horrific execution takes place in Iran every 6 hours.

This past Sunday, I had the honour of attending the Wallaceburg Decoration Day Parade. A heartfelt tribute to the brave men and women who served and sacrificed for our country. Lest we forget.

I had an informative meeting with Kelly-Tallon-Franklin and Bridget Perrier from Courage for Freedom (Canada) this week. Both women are survivors and dedicate their lives to eradicating the human trafficking and sexual exploitation of girls, boys, and children.

It was a pleasure to stop by Schinkel’s in Chatham to present a certificate recognizing their 40th anniversary in business! Congratulations to the entire Schinkel team on this incredible milestone!
