Great to see Cllr Sakina Sheikh formally announce the #Blackheath Fireworks in tonight’s full council! So excited after 6 long years that we’ll finally get this great community event back 🎇

Tonight, at Full Council we agreed the following resolution on a motion on divesting our pension funds from companies operating within occupied territories and with human rights abuses.

The motion supports the ongoing work of our pensions investments committee in being a local authority leader in ensuring the values of our borough and council are reflected in our pension’s investments.

Last night Cllr Mark Jackson and Cllr Yemisi Anifowose moved a motion on gambling reform. Lewisham have now joined a coalition of over 40 other councils calling for urgent reforms to tackle the harms caused by gambling and to restore decision making powers to local authorities.

Many #Deptford residents have raised concerns about the number of gambling shops locally. Very pleased to support this motion and great work by Mark Jackson

🌳 More open spaces for Lewisham! Delighted Lewisham Council has received £0.84m from The National Lottery Heritage Fund to improve urban access to quality green space and nature, as part of the #NatureTownsandCities programme with @NationalTrust & Natural England.

So nice to see our friends ArtsNetwork and Art Hub Studios in their new home on Stanley Street after our surgery on Saturday. Mosaic making, screen printing and lots of beautiful art of display as part of Deptford X — and loads more happening across #Deptford until the 27th.
