PSBA President David Schaap points out that PSBA is not advocating for the elimination or abolishment of charter schools in PA, but calling instead for fair funding and greater accountability.

In 2019 PA's cyber charter schools reported PROFITS (!) of $152 million. Just one year later, they reported that their unassigned fund balances doubled. And your property taxes went up to pay for it. We need cyber #charterreform to bring oversight back to public spending.

Today the #PAHouse Education Committee took a significant step toward fixing our broken charter school law by passing #HB1422, which will modernize our approach to cyber charter schools with transparency, accountability for taxpayer dollars, and data-backed funding reforms.
