“At every concert I leave a lot to the moment. I must have the unexpected, the unforeseen. I want to risk, to dare. I want to be surprised by what comes out. I want to enjoy it more than the audience. That way the music can bloom anew." Arthur Rubinstein

It's also a call to action for me to not ever be lazy: to tell stories and connect with people and welcome them into this crazy world, no matter who they are or what they know. There's something in classical music for everyone. I want to be someone who helps others find theirs.

Some Picasso quotes to start the day: "The purpose of art is to wash the dust of daily life off our souls." "The chief enemy of creativity is 'good' sense." "I paint objects as I think them, not as I see them." "Youth has no age." "Art is a lie that makes us realize the truth"

Tip to everyone. If you are speaking/writing for anyone besides your inner circle, do not use acronyms. Or if you do, please spell them out more than once. Having to go back to find the acronym, kills readability. There are so many acronyms in the sustainability realm.

Thomas Friedman, b otd 1953: No athlete, no scientist, no musician ever got better without focused practice, and there is no program you can download for that. It has to come from within. Terrorism is not spawned by the poverty of money; it is spawned by the poverty of dignity

Last night, @Stewartgoodyear played the Gershwin Concerto in F with articulations so brilliant and dynamic, he shed new light on the infinite expressive possibilities of this work. (Staccato means so much more than short.) @annapolissymphony #annapolissymphonyorchestra
