Congratulations Caitlin (Caitlin Cornell)!!

When Seabed 2030 began in 2017, only 6% of the ocean was mapped at an adequate resolution. Today, 27% has been mapped, helping to close one of the largest data gaps in ocean science & Schmidt Ocean has contributed ~1.2 million square km of mapping data, w/ more on the way.

A single E. coli weighs about one picogram, or 60 million times less than a grain of sand. How do we know that? For my latest Asimov Press essay, I explain how scientists weigh cells. In one case, in the 1950s, they did it using little more than sugar water and a microscope.
