Will soon present a paper by Davide Gnes and me on the role of European Parliament in informalised EU readmission policy. We aim to explain the Parliament’s reluctance to counter informalisation; why has the Parliament accepted its sidelining by executive institutions? #EUGenDem

Interested in how recent developments have affected separation of powers in the EU? Come listen to our conference at the end of June (in Amsterdam and online). We'll talk about our empirical project on informalisation of readmission policy with Davide Gnes.

There is so much research on public attitudes to immigration but a lot less discussion of why and how public attitudes *should* matter for policy-making on migration and refugee protection. Here are my thoughts on this: Who cares what the people think? journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.11…

Check out the contribution by Milka Sormunen and myself on secrecy in informal readmission arrangements (EU external migration policy). You can find the text of the chapter here: taylorfrancis.com/chapters/edit/…

New chapter out with Davide Gnes, a method paper in which we discuss access to documents requests in studying secrecy of informal readmission arrangements. We argue that the method enabled us to understand EU institutions’ arguments even if the documents were not disclosed.
