My new colleague Meg Ehm @gsk talks about our strong partnerships in genetics and genomics. Thanks to The Festival of Genomics & Biodata for the opportunity to present our integrated strategy in genetics, comp bio and genomics today!

Congratulations to Manolis Dermitzakis Manolis Dermitzakis for his Outstanding Science Alumni Award from Penn State Eberly College of Science. He got his Ph.D. here with Andy Clark, with some of the earliest description of variation in gene expression among individuals. Pic with Manolis and Steve Schaeffer.

One of my favorite "things I was wrong about": When I served on Manolis Dermitzakis 's PhD committee, I thought variation in gene expression among individuals was just noise in the measurements. Manolis thought they were genetically determined. He was right!. Now you have eQTLs!!

Very exciting paper by @DianaAvalosM, Olivier Delaneau and others adding more to our past story about CRDs and their impact on gene regulation!

We @gsk also have a careers booth (1534) and an industry session on Friday at 12:30pm in Room 304, with Erik Ingelsson, Manolis Dermitzakis Robert Scott et al, and SAB members Lappalainen Lab brent richards. n/

Do drop by to see some of our exciting research at GSK Robert Scott Daniel Seaton Adrián Cortés-Kößler Chloe Robins

And, we have a lunchtime session discussing our work and thoughts on applying genetics and genomics to drug discovery and development - joined by brent richards Tuuli Lappalainen Daniel MacArthur and John Andrew Todd. Hope to see you on Friday at 12.30 Rm 304. Manolis Dermitzakis #ASHG22

Interested to know more about what we do in Genomic Sciences in GSK? And what careers in industry can look like? Come join us today at 1230 at #ASHG22 in Room 304. Get to hear from Erik Ingelsson, Manolis Dermitzakis Daniel Seaton Tuuli Lappalainen brent richards John Andrew Todd Daniel MacArthur

Congratulations Nancy J Cox for the #ASHG leadership award. So well deserved and long overdue!

One of the most impactful papers from my academic lab, and probably the last great one, bringing together principles and knowledge obtained over many years to dissect disease mechanisms! Congrats to Ana Viñuela Andrew Brown and DIRECT project

It is so great and refreshing to see so many young and promising scientists announce that they have received the European Research Council (ERC) starting grant. Brings back good memories 🙂 and importantly highlights that the future of science is in good hands. Congratulations everyone!!
