Dan Q, our extremely qualified linguist, has designed the greatest system on Earth: A JSON generator that cannot use the letter 'e'. Here is a description of a knight with no e's. Did we ask for this? No. Did we need this? Also no. Is this cool? Yes.

Outlines user Fearnworks recently contributed an EXCELLENT cookbook example on using Outlines + Pixtral to extract structured text from images. The results show that the image contains an astronaut, the moon, the astronaut's shadow, etc. πŸ‘‡ dottxt-ai.github.io/outlines/main/…

Check out this blog post by Daniel van Strien on using vision models with moved to: @lmstudio + Outlines to sort screenshots into different folders! Annotating images with structured generation is a use case we expect to see more and more. danielvanstrien.xyz/posts/2024/11/…

To celebrate the release of Hugging Face's new SmolLM2 series of models we created a fun demo: the Bunny B1. The Bunny B1 shows how a small device using a SmolLM2 model + Outlines can consistently map natural language requests to the correct app! Check it out in this gif!

πŸ“Š One weird trick to parse earnings reports! Wall Street analysts HATE this! Use LLMs to convert messy SEC filings into clean CSV data using structured generation. The one weird trick? Convert your HTML to markdown + use Outlines. Link below πŸ‘‡

🚨 NEW BLOG POST ALERT 🚨 Structured generation is commonly used to output JSON, but we showed how to use it to output directly to a perfect CSV! We use a particularly ugly table format from SEC 10-Ks, a document that public companies are required to submit. Fixed it.

Last week, team member Cameron posted a snippet of code you could use to get structured LLM output from PDFs. This week, we polished that code up a bit to showcase some of the cool things you can do with Outlines + PDFs. A brief thread πŸ‘‡ dottxt-ai.github.io/outlines/main/…
