My ten-year-old son has been told by his teachers that he can't take comics or manga in to read as they "aren't proper books" and they "won't help him develop his reading skills". Like, WTAF? This is why children fall out of love with reading, and it's utterly heartbreaking.

You hear this in bookshops too, and on the mums forums. Absolutely fuming. It’s pig-headed stupidity, and it’s detrimental to children reading 🤬
